there's this guy, eric whom i mentioned in an earlier post

turns out that he failed his exams and is supposed to retain. he's not very happy about this prospect, for he doesn't see himself making friends with the current sec 2 cohort. so, he's appealing to switch to sec 4 NA, failing which he would drop out of school.

i've no illusion that i can save every (or perhaps, any) kiddo that comes my way but to encounter such an incident in my first year of teaching really hurts. seeing someone possibly slipping through the system and be unable to sit down with him and drum some sense into him is sigh-inducing.

hopefully, his rationality would prevail at the end bah.
