when i was in primary six, i unexpectedly did well for my chinese prelim oral examination because i expressed that i wanted to climb the Great Wall of China when asked about the one country i would most like to travel to. this apparently struck a chord with my hua wen lao shi, who expressed disappointment that most people in my class chose Japan or the United States.

it took me sixteen years but i made it! it's a darned surreal feeling.
~~~
anyway, i touched down on monday and was feeling so disgruntled with the fact that my reservist has fallen on my holidays for two consecutive years that i decided to squeeze in a side trip to bali
litte did i know that a 3D2N package to bali would be so freaking expensive. basically, one leaves in the evening on the first day and has to reach the airport early afternoon on the third day. this leaves me with effectively 1.5 days at an astronomical cost of $700+!
decided that i am so not going to leave chinatown empty-handed. decided then that i would sign up for a 5-day package tour to Nepal. 5 days seem too short initially but on deeper thought, i probably wouldn't be able to find many opportunities to go to Nepal anyway. so, hell, life is short!
rationally speaking, $1800+ for a 5-day tour is a bit steep but i haven't felt so happy in a long time! this is exactly how retail therapy feels like!
i'm happy to add some unexpected colour and spice to my holidays! and so glad to travel to somewhere off the beaten track, albeit for a little while.
i'm thankful that i have both the means and the time (though time can never be deemed as enough. haha.) to indulge my travel bug. hee.
