Battle Royale was the first RA movie i watched at the cinema. the show stayed with me over the years and last year, when i went to hongkong, i was really thrilled to find an authentic copy. needless to say, i bought it

after comparing notes,

e: erm, i think your copy is censored. don't have the basketball and rape scenes
me: oh, that's because there's another special edition of battle royale. i bought the original verison.

after a poignant silence (read: time for me to process and gather my thoughts),

me: how did you even know about the additional footage in the first place?
e: oh, i watched it the second time on youtube

which brings me to say:

1. the futility of censorship
2. the desensitisation of today's teenagers

and most importantly,

3. what a mockery of my growing up years. humpf!
